Africa’s universities move toward digital transformation

October 31, 2025

Universities across Africa are accelerating digital transformation through AI tools, hybrid classrooms, and expanded e-learning platforms. Countries including Nigeria, Kenya, and South Africa are leading pilot programs that combine on-campus and online courses.

Education ministers emphasised that the pandemic lessons must translate into permanent, resilient systems. Public-private collaborations are expected to bridge connectivity gaps, ensuring rural campuses access high-speed internet.

Experts predict that the next phase will focus on research collaboration, allowing African institutions to co-publish with global peers using digital platforms.
