Tokyo, Japan - Mar 31, 2016: Students go to the University of Tokyo as new academic year starts in April.

Japan’s education ministry has announced expanded funding for cross-border academic exchanges with ASEAN and South Asian nations. The initiative aims to promote research collaboration and multicultural education.

Participating universities will focus on science, technology, and social policy studies, enhancing regional cohesion. Student mobility between Japan and Asia has already risen 25% this year.

Observers say the move will reinforce Japan’s position as a regional academic leader and boost innovation-driven cooperation across Asia.
