RUSSIA–INDIA ENERGY CORRIDOR EXPANDS

Russia–India energy cooperation is expanding rapidly as both nations strengthen their long-term trade and strategic alignment. With shifting global energy flows, India has emerged as a major buyer of Russian crude, while Russia is investing in downstream and logistics infrastructure to deepen its footprint in South Asia.

Indian refiners have increased purchases of discounted Russian oil, ensuring stable supply amid global price volatility. New shipping routes through the Arctic and alternative corridors via the Middle East are being explored to enhance delivery efficiency.

Additionally, LNG cooperation is intensifying. Discussions on joint development of LNG terminals, long-term supply contracts, and gas-based industrial zones are underway. Russia’s interest in India’s expanding gas market aligns with India’s goal of raising natural gas usage in its energy mix.

Both nations are also evaluating co-investments in petrochemicals, refining upgrades, and strategic storage facilities. As global energy dynamics shift, the Russia–India corridor is becoming a central pillar of Asia’s energy architecture.
