Africa’s Startup Funding Shows Signs of Recovery in 2025

October 30, 2025

Africa’s technology ecosystem has begun to recover from a funding slump, with fresh capital flows returning to markets such as Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa. Early‑stage investors point to improved deal structuring, more selective capital allocation and new cross-border syndicates as drivers of the rebound.

Sector-level strength is visible in fintech, agritech and logistics, where clearer regulatory paths and improved unit economics are attracting both local and diaspora investors. Although total funding still lags peak 2021 levels, this upturn is significant for founders aiming to scale regionally.

Market watchers caution that macro headwinds and currency volatility remain risks; but they also note that the return of active seed and Series A investors creates a healthier pipeline for follow-on rounds.
